Awesome photograph - sometimes it's hard to appreciate how much air these cars take - I've seen a car 5 ft off the floor just going over a kerb!!

Anyone else seen this yet? I went last night with the family and really enjoyed it. The effects as usual nowadays are very good and although there is probably less action than transformers I thought it was very good for a superhero movie.

I thought Robert Downey Junior was excellent for the part and some good one liners.

Sets it up nicely for Iron Man 2

What a waste of half a Day off !!!!

Well today was supposed to be the day i get the gadget that i have always wanted. I got up in a happy mood and gleefully went off to work knowing that i only had to work half day. I travelled home in a cheerful mood as well. Got home and even made myself a burger and chips.....

13:50 the door bell rang a the delivery had been done, Check out The Parcel.jpg below.

The smile that extented across my face made my face hurt as i was filled up with happiness (the sort that you get when the wife lets you out for a piss up).

Unwrapping the parcel was even better, knowing that below was something stunning.

Being the cautious person that i am i decided to check if everything was ok before i proceeded. check photo 2 and 3

The joyous feeling soon disapeared and a feeling of "i would like to kick the living sh!t out of some t*sser" started to come over me.

on phoning the well known unmentioned company i got put through to the delivery people and so began the even increasing circle of phone calls that i was put in. One was saying that they couldn't release another unit until a fault reference number was issued and in the same breath the other department was saying that it wasn't anything to do with them.

And the crowning turd in the water pipe is that they can't get a replacement out to me till the 16th May at the earliest.

Moan over i'm sure people will laugh. i thought i would share my misfortune to cheer you lot up..

Footy Management game

Dante, a couple of my kids and I are playing in the same division in a league on http://www.soccermanager.com, a free footy management game.

Games take place on a Wed and Sat night so you have plenty of time to log in, change team, buy players etc when you have time. The new season in this league kicks off this Saturday, if anyone out there wants to sign up and join us the more the merrier.

If you want to join us, register and look for English Championship 62, we're in Division 4, quite a few teams available. You can add me and dante to your friends list if you want too .

don't know if any of you petrol heads have seen this before but it's a remarkable looking concept car that is actualy in production.

the TS Codatronca is capable of 0-60mph in a blistering 2.7 secs and can go on to a top speed of over 200mph! it's got a Corvette engine kicking out 700bhp. and yes, that is an LCD speedo on the back of the car to let the driver that you just passed know what insane speed you were doing!

it was designed by the same studio that brought us the Aston Martin DB4 and the Ford GT70. no price as of yet...

Well it looks ominous to me - Ferrari are simply in a league of their own really - without the two safety car periods they'd have been half a lap down the road from third place at least.

British Interests

Lewis Hamilton did a great job hanging on for third place - he did all the hard work at the start when Eyebrows and Massa caused Kubica to slow a little allowing Lewis to go to the inside narrowly missing Kovalainen in the process. He kept his foot in and emerged in fourth place behind the two Ferraris (Massa got ahead of Eyebrows) and behind a glory-hunting Eyebrows running light.

Jenson Button drove one of his finest races in a resurgent Honda team finally beginning to make some progress thanks largely due to Ross Brawn's experience and leadership - Button did a "Schumacher" and drove some blistering (by their standards) laps to leapfrog people in the pits.

David Couthard described himself as a "moving target" after Bahrain and guess what - he got hit twice in this race - once by Adrian Sutil banzaii first lap "oh crap I've run out of track" moment and then by Timo Glock later on in the race - Coulthard's car was heavily damaged by Glock - the Toyota driver came from far back to surprise Coulthard down the inside - it worked - Couthard was utterly surprised to see Glock's car there when he turned in.

Anthony Davidson had some bad luck once again in his Super Aguri when a stone got inside the radiator and punctured spilling fluid - he retired very shortly after.

Eyebrows and Renault

They're looking much better and they could be up there challenging for the last podium spot if this carries on.

Kovalainen Crash

He's okay so it's also okay to not open the analysis with this - it was a horrible crash to watch - his car bounced through the gravel and speared the tyre barrier so much that only the rear end of the car was visible.

Rewind to Nurburgring last year when Hamilton had a very similar crash due to a front wheel failure.

Hmm ...

Rewind to 1999 when Michael Schumacher speared the tyres at Silverstone after a rear brake failure resulting in a broken leg.

The difference was the construction of the tyre barrier - in 1999, Michael's Ferrari split the tyres and just ploughed straight through into the concrete. Ouch.

In 2008 at Catalunya, the tyres were much better positioned and although the monocoque was broken underneath, it wasn't utterly split like the Ferrari was in 1999.

Conclusion

Safety cars kept it interesting to a degree but Ferrari looked untouchable. Lewis drove a sensible race settling for the third place - he has to realise he can't win them all and he is doing so - he learned his lesson from Bahrain well.

Bisping wins middleweight debut

It was a double for the British interests in combat sports this weekend with Michael Bisping stopping his opponent in the first round in his middleweight debut at the UFC in Montreal.

Bisping survived an arm bar scare midway through the first round to finish his opponent Charles McCarthy with 23 unanswered knees followed by 14 unanswered punches after McCarthy was dropped.

McCarthy has a suspected broken forearm after he covered up to defend Bisping's relentless Muay Tai knee assault and was unable to stand up after the referee dragged Bisping off as the bell went to signal the end of the first round.

Bisping looked fast and sharp as he picked McCarthy apart. McCarthy took Bisping to the mat and worked for an arm bar which looked pretty locked in. Bisping's defensive Ju Jitsu was excellent however and he managed to escape the arm bar.

McCarthy looked tired after that and it was only a matter of time.

During the fight, McCarthy was taunting Bisping sticking his tongue out and mocking him - to his credit Bisping just kept his cool and dropped McCarthy with knees before finishing him off with ground and pound.

Impressive debut performance from Bisping at middleweight. He does tend to get himself caught (he's survived submission attempts at most of his UFC fights to date) but his underrated ground game prevailed once again.

Bahrain GP May contain spoilers

Did he or didn't he .....

I am of course referring to an incident in lap 2 of the race involving Lewis Hamilton and Eyebrows.

Telemetry says no.

Pat Simmons (Renault) says no.

They say "no" as in there was no braking or lifting.

What they don't say is there was no sluggish accelleration as in not using all the horses under the foot.

And of course Eyebrows has previous - he did it to Coulthard and Christijan Albers or Robert Doornboss (can't remember which - knew he was Dutch).

Let's debate with no bias towards the brake-testing monobrowed b*stard

The date is set for April 4-6th in Rushden, Northamptonshire. The cost will be a fiver to cover use of electric, milk, bread etc and the planting of the new forest that'll be required to offset the carbon footprint.

I'll PM my address and contact details to those attending nearer the time. You are welcome to arrive anytime on Friday, but there probably won't be much gaming going on until the evening.

Please note: The house is non-smoking. Smokers will be provided with access to front and back doors completely free of charge.

There will be 4-5 beds available to kip on and floorspace. Please bring a sleeping bag/duvet pillow (and a camp/air bed if you wish and if you want to go really over the top arrive in a camper van....)

I'll book the traditional curry again on the Saturday night.

What you need to bring:

Xbox 360/TV - I have a spare Xbox and a couple of spare TVs (24" CRT widescreen, ~~19" LCD which also has PC and HDMI inputs~~).

Note: Bringing an Xbox/TV is not compulsory, feel free to come anyway, there will be plenty of opportunities to join in.

Controllers/games/headset - I'd recommend you label these as things can get mixed up when playing on different Xboxs.

Plug n charge cable/wireless headset charger (I have a quick charger that charges 2 controller battery packs at a time, a play and charge lead and a headset charger available).

4 plug extension lead - If anyone bringing an Xbox could bring one of these please that would be helpful.

Ok so there's a few petrolheads on these forums and plenty of events on, some of which I've been/planned to go to before with members of this forum. So who'se up for joining me at any of these this year?

Kicking off in only a few weeks time, the week after the LAN, with..

12-13 April - BTCC (Rockingham, Corby)

Great fun last year and plenty of action that you can see all of on this circuit. Plus you can roam/sit just about anywhere and even watch the action from on top of the pits.

£21 for the main race day (Sunday), 15yrs or under free.

24-26 June - F1 test day (Silverstone)

Suggested by Dante as an alternative to the prohibitively expensive F1 race. Would love to go to F1 again but I'm trying to hold out for a couple of years when, if Ross can work his magic, we may end up with 2 British drivers challenging for the Championship, you never know. Plus the timing of the British GP isn't great, see below.

Only £12 for a day, obviously no guarantees as to which drivers/teams will be there, but nice and cheap and you get to see some F1 cars/drivers put through their paces.

We had an abortive attempt to get a few of us to this last year, but due to various illnesses only myself and my eldest ended up going. So let's try again this year. If you love cars this is one event you simply must go to.

From £47 day (Sat or Sun), £99 weekend (Fri-Sun) Admission only (tbh you really don't need a grandstand ticket, far too much to do and see to be sat in a stand all day).

Can't wait for this personally especially having seen the trailer. I was wary of seeing such an old Harrison Ford reprise such an iconic role which he made his (nobody else can play Indiana Jones - it has to die with him in my opinion).

Anyhow, this photo of the some of the cast has further put my fears to rest:

Karen Allen looks great for her age and so does Harrison Ford - he looks like Indiana Jones still - roll on May.

This is great news for ad-break free F1 coverage - I just hope they install their own commentary team - or at least main commentator - and don't inherit James Allen.
