Two things that I particularly liked were the fact that some random crashes occur with other AI drivers, only ever seen that in earlier TOCA games and just doesn't seem to feature in any other driving games. Secondly, if you haven't tried turning driver aids off, have a go. The handling becomes so responsive but yet remains perfectly controllable unlike many other driving games when you turn them off. Looking forward to the full game

RE: GRID Demo

Had some fun racing last night. It will be much better online when we can host private rooms, getting rid of the dickheads who deliberately ram you off the road on a straight.
There are a couple of issues for me, one is when you are going down the big hill with the jumps in San Francisco, when you get to the bottom there is a sweeping right handed and as you break a little then turn in the car goes into a violent shake but doesn't slide off, its as though the cars on rails, not very realistic. 2nd, the drift is for me a poor aspect of the game, but each to their own. 3rd, when a race finishes you get total time showing but not your fastest lap, so even if you come 2nd or 3rd or wherever there are no bragging rights, this is a huge omission from a racer. That said I am looking forward to the full game and more tracks and cars and private rooms...

RE: GRID Demo

Downloaded this when I got home from work and had quite a few goes at it mainly in the race mode as I cannot stand drifting with the wheel due to the handbrake needing to be on a button (hard to reach when you have both hands on the wheel and you need to flip your gears too).

The AI is abysmal frankly - I know this is only a demo so maybe in the final game it'll be better but I had more rear-enders and sideswipes as the AI just didn't seem to know my car was there - it makes racing the AI frustrating to say the least.

I'll be honest here and say although I have this on pre-order I am beginning to wonder whether it's going to be another single player racing game I have like Forza 2 became.

The problem is that the touring car racing is a contact sport - now, given Codemaster's track record for problematic netcode the thought of rubbing paintwork with another player online just doesn't appeal to me at all.

I can see the same problems with this that stopped me from playing Forza 2 online - lots of contact and lots of crashing as a result.

The game looks great and plays very well with the wheel - the single player game has a lot of appeal to me - more than the online game actually given my already stated reservations - but the AI needs to have improved by the time it's released.

I have it on pre-order and will have a completely open mind about it when the time comes - I'll try it both online and offline in the full version before I pass judgement proper.

RE: GRID Demo

had a quick go of this this mornin and it looks lovely, the tracks are very detailed & the car models are realistic. The damage is excellent with debris left permanently all over the track. As for the handling it it on the arcadey side, but don't forget this is only the demo, I dont know if any of you has hosted yet & the simulation can be adjusted. The full game might be different. Hopefuly a proper session will reveal it' true potential.

the handling is way better to say, GTA4. also, graphicaly, it knocks spots of a game like GTA4. the multiplayer element seems to have been better thought out than other games, GTA4 springs to mind. the time trials are way better than most games, especialy GTA4. the tracks have been designed with the race fan in mind, unlike GTA4. the lobby is very easy to connect to and looks nice, GTA4 was lacking in this department. you can tweak your suspension settings to the nth degree, why was this omitted from GTA4?

overall, Race Driver Grid has raised the bar for racers, GTA5 is going to have to be very special to overtake it, not that i'm comparing it to any other game...

RE: GRID Demo

JUST DONE A LOW 1.17 went on the website and their is now lo 1.14 got to be cutting the corners wankers.

RE: GRID Demo

I wasnt expecting this to be as arcadey as it is. Tell the mechanics - don't tweak the wing settings or tyre pressures yourself.

RE: GRID Demo

Everything i have seen to do with GRID looks quality and i've stuck it down on pre-order @£32 and your right Codemasters don't make a habit of making shit Games !!!!

GT5: No Comment.................

RE: GRID Demo

Looking good, I cannot see codemasters messing up on this.

I will get the game as long as there is not loads of "under the bonnet tweaking", I have played enough Gran Turismo games to last a lifetime and just want to race, not spend hours fiddling and shopping for car parts.

RE: GRID Demo

yeah its got to be xbox only because of live .
i play my ps3 more than the xbox motorstorm and f1 are top games plus like you said as dvd player or blueray top of the class.

RE: GRID Demo

yup gt5 was fantastic for a week then got bored wont be buyin this on ps3 will end up with grid of 360 good job i like movies or me ps3 would of been a complete waste of money

RE: GRID Demo

yeah great news that is , that vid is bang on tho must admit i do like gt5 but got very bored of it fast bit like gta.

cant bloody wait for grid the more and more i see i think and hope its going to a triple A title.

GRID Demo

According to the official GRID site there will be a playable demo of this game the week commencing 5th May, so we should get it to download by Wednesday

But don't hold your breath, remember the Forza debacle.

the link is here GRID DEMO INFORMATION
also, quite a funny comparison video of Gran Tourismo 5 on the Gaystation 3 and Grid, it's on Youtube, link below...
GRID versus Gran Tourismo 5
