I went off IE when IE6 was around, due to the fact that it wasn't very secure (apparently - I have no idea how true that is).

I use firefox exclusively now, it runs faster than IE7 (it starts up quicker atleast), its got more options for customizing which I like.

Also, as i'm at Uni doing a Computer Science degree its drilled into you that anything to do with Microsoft is utter shite (Which I don't believe for one moment, I hate using Linux or OpenOffice for example).

Also, when web-developing you will find that IE has LOTS of bugs - lots of them have been fixed from IE7 but still there are some. It causes problems because there are standards in place, which define how a web-browser handles a page. Firefox does a good job of adhering to these standards....IE doesn't. It's a pain because when designing websites, you can make them look awesome in Firefox, but they probably won't look the same in IE. Or you can make it look awesome in IE but they won't look the same in Firefox (or any other browser for that matter). I prefer to use Firefox because its standards-compliant, I design my websites for Firefox to look nice, but just make them 'work' in IE usually....

Sure someone else will have a completely different viewpoint here...but thats my way of seeing it. I have nothing against IE, but from a web-development point of view its a nightmare..!

ie, firefox..

right, could someone please explain y they use firefox for example instead of the ie browser
