It's all lies, I'm a n00b and even I know you dont want that connect stuff.

I'm running XP pro at home and have dowloaded a broadcasting agent called TVERSITY. you need to install this and stop sharing through media player.

With TVERSITY you can stream almost all media files eg, divX, AVI etc, which TVERSITY transcodes so that the XBOX can read the file ... when I tried to share through Media player 11 my xbox wouldn't recognise the file types.

The programme you need is Windows Media Connect 2

Now - if you try to download that from MS these days they say it is no longer available, and that the functionality is contained within Windows Media Player 11

I think there is also a lot more copyright protection within WMP11, so if for some unforseen reason you cannot upgrade to WMP 11 (for example if you have been the poor unwitting victim of fraud/piracy), then whack in a search for Windows Media Connect 2 on google and you will find plenty of places to download it.

I have it running on my Wired PC and wireless Laptop (the 360 is wireless also) and I have no problems with it.

I'd also recommend using it if for some reason you can't connect whilst using WMP11

use with both my pcs (not at the same time) one is wireless the other is wired, can even use XNA development studio with wireless even though it tells you not to.

Couldn't get my 360 to detect my Laptop running XP Home / WMP11.

However, it happily detects my desktop PC running the same OS, with WMP11.

The only difference is that the laptop is wifi, the desktop isn't.

I must admit I couldn't connect my 360 to Windows XP - it did work at first when I first got it but several formats later and probably a service pack it no longer worked - kept on bleeting about needing Media Centre Edition.

I will try it again with renewed interest - I don't have Media Centre Edition setup right now - I connect using Windows Vista Media Centre when I do this sort of thing but my desktop machine still has XP Professional on it.

Basic instructions are included in the 360 manual, if you're having trouble, try here. As matty said it's a bit difficult to help when you've provided no information on your setup, what modem/router you have etc etc.
