cheapest place if any for xbox 120gig drive?

Im struggling lot lately since getting HD movies downloaded on my xbox 360 Premium console, having to delete lots of stuff, now i could get a 120gig drive but prices a stupid 120 quid most places, yet i could spend that again just for an elite xbox. Ebay have nothing either.

Any suggestions?

Well my 360 started to crash with grphical glitches on sat, while my daughter was playing around with photo mode in pgr3. Then the screen went blank but the xbox was still on working, a reboot sorted that.

Then while my daughter was playing Geometry Wars it crashed with a checkerboard pattern. On reboot a while later three red lights showed. So I removed cables, swore plugged them back in, restarted, swore. Removed the hard disk etc nope nothing would get it going.

Ring up the help line who answered quickly, registered my xbox and then they said ok turn it on again and we will run through some stuff, what do you know the damn thing turned on fine........

It's been ok since then but I feel it's days may be numbered

Now I understand why these american kids keep lagging and kicking my ass online.

Wireless Guitar

Well after continuously dropping the long notes whilst playing GHIII at the Lan, and several times tonight i decided to try and fix the bloody guitar. Talking to Art at the lan i took the neck of the guitar apart and then moved the circuit board (the one that connects the 2 bits together), in front of its holding slot and then put the neck back together again. Now i've managed to get 100% on a couple of songs that i struggled with before, so it must have made a difference......

US Rock Band Peripherals Questions

Does anyone know if US Rockband peripherals will work on a UK 360?

I know the game is locked, but I have bought controllers in the US before and they worlk fine. If so I have a mate coming across in a few weeks and it may be an opportunity to pick up a few peripherals on the cheap and order the solus version of the UK game.

Can seeem to find any definite anwere anywhere on this or other Forums.

Stolen 360

Ok guys, my beloved 360 was stolen on saturday afternoon (23rd Feb), including all my games, along with some other stuff. The police have been notified, but hold out little hope of getting it back. Is there a contact number for me to get intouch with microsoft to report this, so they could monitor XBL and see if my box gets connected to XBL? They left the power supply tho, bloody idiots. Any help would be much appreciated. If anyone who lives in the Birmingham area knows of any being sold on the cheap (Mine was sprayed Silver, and had an Assassin's Creed faceplate) could they let me know asap. THX

Failing DVD drive?

Hi folks,

Think my dvd drive is on the way out but just wanted to get other peoples thoughts. My drive seems to keeping dropping in speed - then speeding back up again then slowing down as if struggling to read. Only started day or two ago and seems to be happening on Mass Effect (brand new disc). Anyone else has this problem with the drive or strange happenings on Mass Effect. Will try some other games out at length to see. Haven't played much else as COD seems to be giving me a bit of grief at the moment (was not ignoring all the invites Mon night just got connection errors all the time!).

And can you use the HD-DVD add on drive for games? If my drive is on the way out then buying one of these at the moment would be cheaper than a repair,

Lets not have the arguement about the fact that its going to be a dead technology - because thats exactly why you can get this bit of kit so cheap now.

Amazon are currently selling this for £35.

However - PC World will price match that plus 10% of the difference. So because they still have it in-store at £115, then the difference is £80 - so they'll give an extra £8 off taking this bad-boy down to a meagre £27.

Dead technology or not - it may be worthwhile at that price as I hear it does a pretty good job upscaling normal DVDs and hopefully HD-DVD will become cheap as chips over the coming months also.

I am pretty sure that there will soon be a stand-alone Blu-Ray device for the 360 - in fact you may see it integrated one in the future now there is a clear winner in the format war, so you may want to take that into account. But again - at £27 surely its worth a try?

disc read errors...

just lately Ive been gettin "disc is dirty cannot read" or just "cannot read disc" messages randomly when playing COD4 or PGR, its happened twice wiv PGR which I have only had for about a week and 2 or 3 times with COD4, Ive also noticed Im getting a clicking sound while playin and my 360 seems to be getting louder. Has anyone experienced this ? Does it mean its on its way out or could it be the discs ? Ive only had my 360 12mths and wasn't expexting any problems with its health for a good while yet.

So, buying a 360 then...

Having skanked games on my mates 360 for ages I'm looking to get a 120 gig job of my very own and was wondering if anyone had seen one for under £200 new. I've looked online and can't get lower than £250.

Also, this red light business...is it devastating enough to be worth getting some sort of specific insurance against it? I've heard quite a few horror stories.

Can any of you wonderfull peeps lay my mind at ease ?

The new 360 that came my way after the 3 red lights of doom is in a word a noisy lil thing. Its almost like a wind turbine. I have mine horizontal an the right hand side of the unit you can feel a lot of cool air, at the back however it a tad on the hot side.

As M$ think its acceptable to give me a new box Manufacture date 07/07 buit only a short warranty I dont want this one going pop at my expense.

So in short should it so noisy ?

I've just invested in a pair of Sharkoon X-TATIC 5.1 headphones [url=http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=373568][/url] to use with my 360. Picked them up this morning and after a little playing about got them setup nicely and I'm very impressed with the sound, COD4 is even better now .

I'm having a problem using the mic though. People can hear me fine but I can't hear anyone as the sound is trying to go through the original mic unit which I'm not using. In the instructions it says to go into menu, click on "personal Settings" -> "Voice" -> "Voice Output" and activate the "Play Through Speakers" option. I can't seem to find this setting anywhere, does anyone know where and how to set this or are using these headphones and can help.

HDMi Port?

How much difference does it make?

Just wondering if anyone has either the elite or arcade version with an HDMi port and if there is any noticable difference in quality? Does it affect solely video or does it affect audio also?

Is it only useful for HD-DVD (which I dont have) or does it make a difference to games as well. My 360 has started playing up recently so I may consider changing it - althoughI didn't fancy paying the 'elite' price to replace a console I already have, however I have noticed the 'arcade' bundle is now available as low as £150 - and has the HDMi port. That price make it more pallatable.

Any insight appreciated

Looks like the Brothers will nolonger support HDDVD after may. They were supporting both for a time but their sales figures for Blu Ray beat HDdvd every month last year.

They said it would be less confusing for the consumer if they backed one format.

Blade Runner on hd dvd

Just watched my copy of blade Runner on HD DVD people this digital transfer is fantastic never seen a HD source look this good if you have a HD DVD drive get this version of a classic movie it looks like a different film, I'm still in shock i can't believe the deference between this and the standard DVD.

I was only reading how many problems and enchanges other people had on the 360s last night.

Turned on this morning and now I have 3 red lights.

10mins on the phone and its got to go back to be repaired.

Pleased its covered for 3 years though. Its only just 16 months old and I thought I would have to pay or buy another one.

Should be 2-3 weeks. Ready for the new game I ordered from Asia, MX v ATV.

I am already dreading no 360 for a while. Have to play on the wifes Wii now, or get the old xbox out.

Ok so im on my 3rd console , although still have my original HardDrive as i just keep swapping the units over at GAME when they go wrong and keep my HD.

This one seems pretty stable , about 3 months old , and certainly the quiestest by far.

Odd joypad battery behaviour

I've got the official Microsoft quick charge kit and whilst what I'm describing in no major problem just wondering what it is doing.

Whilst the console is off, my pad (have two) with the quick charge battery in has the top left led around the guide button very faintly lit up. I know a faint led uses next to no electricity but curious so it's no biggie just wondering why it does it and if other peoples do. I swapped it into my other pad and now when the console is off the bottom left quadrant (i.e. player four) is faintly lit. Sometimes flashing. Anyone else's rechargeable battery packs do this?

I have just bought a new 20gb hard drive for my 360 and when I attached it to my console it only has 13.9gb of memory available can does anyone know why this is.

It seems to me that if you pay for 20gb's then that is what you should get.
