2 to 3 weeks without xbox doesnt bare thinkin about, might get a couple of pc games just in case.

Sounds like the begining of the end!!!

Mine started like that and lasted around 1 month until the 3 red lights.

Should be covered by the warranty but its the 2-3 weeks without it that hurts most.

and I was hoping everyone would say its the discs! will treat it wi TLC from now on then, get as much life out of it as poss.....fingers crossed i might get another yr before having to change it, its only a year old afterall.

I've had the disc reading problems for ages now, maybe 6 months. For me to get discs to actually read I had to turn the Disc Autostart feature on, to get the disc drive to spin up when I turn the Xbox on. Instead of booting straight to the dashboard.

If I want to swap a game I have to eject the current game, insert the different disc then reboot it .

And as Flan Said it doesnt get any better, sometimes I have to reboot 3-4 times to get a game to start .

thats exactly why i traded mine in for an Elite, just handed it it in at Gamestation and they didn't even turn it on, good job, it was barely reading discs at that stage. sorry Duke, but it won't get any better, as it happens with brand new discs...

I hope not !! It very strange that about 2wk ago, just before it started playing up, you rang me and said, "hows ur xbox goin, it shud be due to go faulty now" or somet like that, and now its going faulty !! Have you put a curse on it ?

well my 360 did similar stuff and i sometimes get scratchy sounds when it's on and i've had 3 red lights many times now and yet it's still going always a reboot has sorted it. Lets see whose goes terminal first

just lately Ive been gettin "disc is dirty cannot read" or just "cannot read disc" messages randomly when playing COD4 or PGR, its happened twice wiv PGR which I have only had for about a week and 2 or 3 times with COD4, Ive also noticed Im getting a clicking sound while playin and my 360 seems to be getting louder. Has anyone experienced this ? Does it mean its on its way out or could it be the discs ? Ive only had my 360 12mths and wasn't expexting any problems with its health for a good while yet.
