i'll have to try and get that as i have always enjoyed playing it at the LANs! oh and cheers for the laughs last night chaps, i do enjoy the jokes and jibes but them dutch/german in breds were funny for the first 5 seconds that they just got on my nerves (i thought there was a kick button somewhere but i couldn't find it).

Usual for the foreign persons and i all started with a rather racist question that i thought was a bit below the belt. oh well i just keep telling myself that there is one born every minute..

aye good fun cheers guys, but you forgot to mention you and Fezza having a bit of a battle at the end of the last lap on that newburgerrings track only for me to come sailing past to snatch second, then straight into the barrrier at the chicane before the last corner, Oh how I laughed ;(

yep, twas a good night. highlights being myself and Madmiddle lying in third and fourth respectively on the last lap when we flew past Chas and then Fezza who had both impaled themselves on barriers and couldn't get off! we also met some interesting johnny foreigner types who were very knowledegable about donkey cocks. Fezza loosing a race on the very last corner literally 20 feet from the finish line and finally Madmiddle not realising a race was three laps instead of two, crossing the finish line and thinking he'd won only for me to go pissing past as he was celebrating and winning the race half a lap in front of him as he was looking for the champagne! cheers guys, without you it would be nothing...

Really enjoying this now, after a reduction in the difficulty levels!

The rewind option works well, technically it could be called cheating and I am sure racing purists would never dream of using it, but it has saved my car from destruction many, many times.

I quite like the handling of the F3000 cars - can catch slides very well - haven't tried them with the controller but with the wheel they handle really nice.

I am on the LM cars at Le Mans and they're fantastic although they're deceptively "pointy" even though they obviously have a heck of a lot of grip.

I'm now most of the way threw the game, won a 24 hour race . The sponsors later on in the game give out big money .

The faster GT1 cars are quite a handful also. Feathering the throttle is the only way. To much pedal to the metal and you're in the wall. I think controlling most of the cars in the game,you need alot of throttle control, or they all can be a handleful.

The more I've played the game in singleplayer the more I've enjoyed it. And for those who are maybe struggling with the handling, stick with it, and I'm sure youll get into it .

I'm not sure if this will help you SteamRobot, But I've found being very delicate with the throttle helps loads with GRID. Especially some of the earlier cars in the game ( American Muscle ). With the american cars I found that full throttle caused them to loose control very easily.

The handling definately took some time to get used to. Especially after playing games like PGR4.

I am going to try this. TBH, I have really struggled to get into playing this, spinning off was getting quite frustrating! I do think there is a great game in there somewhere, I really enjoyed Dirt.

I'm quite far into the game now but what else is annoying me is the grid position - surely your wins should effect your qualifying position - why always stuck at the back?

Enjoying the Endurance series races though - proper circuits - no barriers - happy days.

DIRT was great, wish i hadn't sold it now. Just can't get in to GRID at all, just keep crashing in to the barriers.

Yer SK the later races can be quite frustrating. I've just unlocked the top set of races in each area now. So things should only get harder from here in.

All in all really enjoying the game though. When I have to hand this back sometime this week, I think I'll re-visit DiRT, because this game reminded me how much I also enjoyed playing DiRT.

After a long period of time of behaving itself my wheel has started doing it's phantom button presses again this time on GRID.

I must confess I've been playing just to get the achievements as an enjoyable racing game GRID leaves me swearing more than giving me pleasure - I think this is more down to the choice of cars and circuits than the game's engine.

Being totally skint at the moment ( Cue the violins ! ) I've hired the game for a week. I've gotta say I'm really enjoying playing the game. But have to agree with others the drifting is the weakest part of the game. The graphics are excellent. And the handling is pretty good once you get the hang of it.

Now if only I can get a couple of online sessions on the game before I have to hand it back next week . Hopefully see you online sometime over the weekend

i was starting to get the right arse with this game as i just couldn't win a race. every different event i was trying i managed to come in last or first to last. then looking at the bloody settings i had some how changed to one of the harder setting.

After playing it for a couple of weeks i find that the game is stunning and if they managed to sort out the series event for the private matches then it could replace forza II as my MP racer. that is the only thing that is missing from this game. and i'm sure there will be some DLC with some new cars in it as well

i take back wot i said about grid beein shit me m8 rented it as he had free rental at blockbusters didnt like it so i had it for 3 days with the microsoft wheel its become a great game with joypad its terrible not very good at moment at grid or using the wheel so abit more practice b4 i play online as i dont want ppl moanin at me for hittin them

i got an invite MG, but i was in a room already, halfway thru' a series, the host had it on long races, the final one being Spa on SIX laps so the race lasted about 15mins. i was in third at the time and managing to avoid the crashes, so i wasn't about to quit, as much as i love hearing your happy go lucky voice, because i wanted the experience points for what theyr'e worth. plus it was bed time after that. thanks for the invite tho'.

agree with SK, the drifting IMHO is the weakest element in the game.

p.s. are you sure you weren't driving the wrong way SK...?

Im actually getting into the drifting at the moment, the demo track was abysmal and still is in the full game, but drifting on tracks is quite good.

Had a Pro touga race last night - what youre refering to SK - and lost by a second. The videos say that pro touga races are performed on closed public roads.

I suppose its not much of a wild thought to think that the none proffesional versions go on on roads that arent closed...same with drifting.

Had soem online games last night with Dante, Steam and Alf which were quite good, but could have benefited from a few more players - so thanks to those people who just plain ignored the invites!

I wouldn't be too worried about the crashing in single player it is par for the course particularly when driving those heavy American cars around tight street circuits.

Major gripe for me is the Japanese races - not only the pointless (literally, in my case) drifting but those mountain races where you get, wait for it, oncoming traffic - yes, oncoming traffic in a racing game!!

Those Japanese are crazy if this is a santioned event they have - midnight racing where you're up against oncoming traffic.

If I wanted that, I'd throw GTA IV on or Burnout - it has no place in a bonefidé racing game.

I really enjoy the open wheel and touring car racing and even the Le Mans racing has it's appeal but the stock car, drifting and tortuga (whatever it's called) I absolutely hate.

Overall the game is quality just 33% of the racing featured isn't my cup of tea.

just picked this up today and started on the single player. at the moment i'm not sure it would be good idea for me to go online as i'm crashing all over the place.

I have heard that a lot of people online are crashing in to each other as a way of winning, which is a shame. I also note that there is an acheivement for being involved in a 3 car pile-up.

Well, I traded in a load of games and picked this up, basically for something to play with the community, as GTA has been dropped like some hot poo.

After initial dismay and woe over it, especially the drifting, its growing on me. Just done the first races for my own team and got first and have three sponsers...the track driving is actually quite good, the street driving makes my eyes melt.

Will see what its like online at some point, perhaps tomorrow or tonight.

i've got a bad feeling about this game, i like it, the handling is better than some have said, the open wheelers being a highlight for me, but as Chas said there is a lot that could be improved on in the options side of the game. all the moaning(legitimately)means it will be dropped quickly by the community, it's going to be one of those games that passes us by that had the potential to get us playing together again that doesn't involve shooting one another(COD4).

shame realy, at it's heart it's a very good game that sits nicely between PGR and Forza, lets hope that the feedback Codies get means they release a patch to improve/unlock some of the single palyer element into the live section. you would think they would glance over their shoulders to see what the opposition is doing right and pinch an idea or two.

i for one will carry on playing it as it's the perfect antidote to the aforementioned COD4..

Played it Friday night online with a few of us, it works really well, except that they seem to have missed out half the game online, limited classes, very few options, no series racing either. Such a shame, could be a really great game online, but unless they patch it they kinda blew it again. What is there is great once you work out which championships give you which cars, but not nearly enough of the championships/classes are there.

My copy turned up today but I am a bit worried about going online with you lot in case I accidently drive too close to one of your cars and affect your driving line with a slight flutuation in the wind dynamics

Race the muscle cars offline and any carnage that occurs online will be gentleman racing
