Anyone know if its possible to buy a original Xbox starter kit and credit it to an Xbox 360 Live account..?

There are still some great deals on starter kits around, much cheaper than allowing your credit card to be billed by the subscription.

Check out http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=rts&page=title&r=XBOX&title=169478 only 27.99 and you could likely trade in the PGR2 too!

Actually checked this further and that web link does not answer my original question.

I've checked from my console and there is an option to redeen a pre-paid card using a 25 digit code which I assume is the code revealed within the Xbox Live starter pack.

Anyone know for sure if an original Xbox Live Starter Kit can be credited to an Xbox Live Gold Account from the Xbox 360 dash..?

If so, this is an even better price, http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0641184.htm

It might not work on the 360, as it might reject the codes in the same way the Xbox Live (Original Xbox) rejected the 2 month trial codes.

Then again, if you've still got your old Xbox, you can add it onto the old XBox instead.

Edit: I've just remembered they don't extend like they use to. The newer XBox Live kits for the Xbox (original) put your sub to the exact day next year and refunded what was left of your current sub.

My Bad.

Didn't really want to try it without being sure. I'll phone the helpline today some time! I'll keep you updated.

I've just been assured by the chap on the helpline that the 25 digit codes from an Xbox Live Gold Membership prepaid card and an Original Xbox Live starter kit are completely equivalent, meaning that you can use the code from an original Xbox Live starter kit to renew your Xbox Live Gold subscription from your Xbox 360 dash.

This is well worthwhile because original Xbox Live starter kits are being sold very cheaply, include a spare headset which will still work with Xbox 360 (but without mute or volume control) and usually include a couple of Game demos.

If you have not done it already it works.

bought mine from Play for £24.99 and get boxed version of PGR2 for xbox, headset etc. Should get a couple of  quid trade in for it so a bargain compared to the £39.99 renewal cost.
