My beloved xbox is shortly going to be sent back to microsoft to be repaired. I have considered many options to enable me to sustain my gaming addiction such as buying another xbox off ebay and the selling again after the 2-3 weeks it takes to turnaround mine. Upgrading to an elite and selling mine upon it's return. My final option is buying a PS3 and sending my 360 away, after which i shall own both consoles.

I wouldn't say i had money to waste, and am struggling to justify buying both consoles (especially to my wife!!!),  but would appreciate the opinion of those people who do own both console and how the alternate between the two?

I bought a 2nd Xbox a while back when I had a chance has it was going cheap.

Yesterday my original xbox threw up a E74 error code and has to be sent off for repair. luckily I have the 2nd xbox to keep me going. If I did not have the 2nd xbox then I would definitely have to buy one to keep me going.

As you said you try and pick up a second hand one cheaply to keep you going and then sell it on when you get yours back. The turn around time on returned consoles is around 8 days at the moment I believe.

Sorry state when you have to buy one as a backup for when the other goes wrong. I can't believe the one i have has lasted this long, it's had disk read errors, funny sounds coming from it, loads of freezes and crashes and 3 red lights many many times now and yet it always gets sorted with a reboot, i can feel that this one wants to survive i don't think MS would believe me if i told them another one had broken, me and bill are on first name terms

I have got 2 360s and have them setup in different rooms. That way there is no problem with me hogging the main TV when the wife wants to watch something. Its a small price to pay for marital harmony

We've got 3 360's. The kids, the wifes and mine. Since buying the first in December 2005 only one has packed up (after 2 long years off near constant use) and been replaced.

Im currently running two 360's, the one is my main (Old One) which is int he spare room where I play and the other is just a media center for the living room.  It also acts as a spare if mine went belly up

Keep it safe, Keep it registered!

After having my 360 knicked back in Feb this year, i spent a week without a 360, when i counld't take it no longer, i went out and bought an Elite, then a few months later, the insurance sent me a new 360, so now i have the Elite in my PC/Console room, and the other one on the 42" plasma as a media center, where i can watch AVI's, if i want to play any games on the 42" i just swap the hard drives around and have no problem with the saves. But having seen a mate cross over to the "Dark Side" i've now decided to to become all neutral and get a PS3 as well, and now the mrs wants a Wii, where will it end......

I use a memory card with my profile and current saves on it. The only problem is with downloaded content that is stored on the HD, I have to swap over the drives which is a bit of a pain but not too much hassle.
