| ... in one of the most biased refereeing performances I've ever seen. Thompson had won the first two rounds and had to suffer a standing up after he had Kimbo in side control. Kimbo took over 20 unanswered blows in round 2 whilst pinned against the cage. Thompson took four shots standing and his ear got popped by Kimbo and the referee dived in and stopped it - Thompson was fine and was disgusted by the stoppage as was the crowd. Kimbo Slice can go far but he needed some help to beat a guy who struggles in Cage Rage in the UK but has beaten Don Frye and Yoshida in Japan ... tough to rank them both really. Thompson had Kimbo beaten though ...

| looks like Kimbo is shit on the ground, but I could not see Thompson winning that after that last few shots, Kimbo would have kept going for this ear.

| Yes that is very likely although Thompson was hit harder in the first round and didn't crumble like many thought. Thompson was taking Slice down pretty much at will - after the ear popped I would have thought Thompson would have got Slice to the ground and sat on him for the remainder of the round and scored a fairly comprehensive decision win. The issues I have are: - Why was the fight stood up when Thompson had side control?
- Why wasn't the fight stopped when Thompson was reigning down elbows (someone counted over 50 unanswered elbows) on Slice - although they weren't devastatingly hard, Slice was not intelligently defending himself at the time.
They're protecting him alright - he's a massive crowd draw.

| | not sure how thomson would have done taking more shots like that 3 rounds in. If Kimbo could'nt knock him out then Thomson should have won on points. In any case Kimbo cant be protected forever, other fighters wont be so afraid of him now. But he needs to improve his ground work and get into better shape.

| Check out this gif of the fight - this isn't the sequence that brought the stoppage but James Thompson took some shots right down the pipe and didn't go down like he has done in the past: Check out the deformation of Thompson's face after the left hook too - it reminded me of the one with Marciano vs Walcott : Neither of those blows resulted in a KO either amazingly!!
