blah blah, game of the year, but what does everyone think of BBC iplayer, i think it's great that you can watch programmes youv'e missed. talking of which, the catch up on demand on virgin is great as well. what does everyone else think...Fezza, how about you? i'd love to hear your opinion...

I apologise for highjackin you're threw about "The game of the year" Fezza.

But was trying to point out the reason SK should buy a ps3 other than just to play Ferrari Challenge, which is a PS3 only exclusive.

As for the game. Had a quick blast on it today in a shop. Thought it was "OK". I myself would like more variety than just driving round in one make of car continually. So i will not be getting it .

yeah the new os update for the ps3 does make give you the ability to do what the 360 has been able to do since lauch date a few years back so things are deffo improving on it, although its not compitable with all games. My ps3 has probably spent more time running the grid computing thing than anything else.

In my opinion PS3 vs Blue-Ray player is abit of a no brainer.

The PS3 is a excellent media center ( Use mine for that purpose mainly ). It has a few games that will interest you SK. But more are definately on the way. (GT5! ).

Blue-Ray players are exactly what they say they are, and thats all.

Plus the PS3 is a lovely looking well made piece of kit. And they just released some updates so it can start to compete with the Xbox online. ( Friends lists etc etc ). Also it makes SD Dvds look amazing upscaled into HD.

Anyways that is my opinion .

and yes sk it is the dogs bollox i cant get off it at the moment just look at the thread on avforums they to are raving about it well some of them
and the good thing is some of the devs are taking an interest in what people are saying.

i've had the V+ box for about 6 weeks now SK, with my 40" 1080p sammy the HD picture is, like you say, gobsmacking. watching the Euro games on the BBC HD channel was superb, no lagblur that big screens suffer from, and Wimbledon looked like you were there!

my only concern is with this new Freesat service where ITV are putting their HD content on, i realy don't want another piece of equipment to plug in or screw to my outside wall. hopefuly ITV will put their HD content on the V+ box. on the whole this is a great investment and well worth the money if youv'e shelled out for an HD LCD you might as well pay a little extra for the V+ box, assuming you live in a Virgin area of course. if you don't your wasting your money on an expensie LCD. the 360 looks amazing regardless...

Shame it didn't live up to your expectations mate

Just replaced our tv with a HD one so time is looming now for some HD media.

I plugged my 360 in and downloaded Beowulf to watch in HD but it was jerky and jumpy - this was playing direct from the 360 HD - major letdown.

Got Virgin Media V+ installed too the Blue Planet High Definition programmes look stunning - makes "normal" TV look like lego.

So Blu-Ray player or PS3 - this is the question.

If Ferrari Challenge was the dog's bollocks it'd have been a no-brainer. I have F1 season mods on rFactor so I get my F1 fix on that on PC so it needed something more to tempt me than the F1 game on the PS3.

still loving this game it oozes quality , and soon the online will be fixed also a load of other additions to the game that people have had probs with and other tweaks to make it the game of the year 2008

i was hoping to grab this as it did look interesting for a decent racer on the ps3..... tried the F1 demo and just really couldnt get into the handling of it, and grid well....

but it's not released in the US till the end of August! like wtf.... dam euros.... might import it but dunno if i'm that excited to play it....

well got this thursday and first impressions were a major let down graphics were not up to what were use to on some racers its very forza 1 , then thier is the odd slowdown when their is to much going on in the game then .
the crazy A1 you catch them up easy enough but the they turn into a human road block very frustrating at first.
but then i gave it time friday night sat night and sunday and boy is it a typical slow burner the more you play the more the A1 seems to react to your driving ive had loads of battles with the A1 just for a top 5 finish and its felt like im playing a human.
and the driving physics is above anything ive played on a console it borders on sim with as touch of arcade you really do have to use your braking zones if not your in the kitty litter.
its by far the best sp player ive bought it needs to be because the so called 16 player online is a joke ive not even got into race yet
their are plenty of modes from arcade to challenge to trophy and the tracks are a joy and some of the best ive played on in any console racer very varied and they are supposed to release a new track each month
im not just saying for the sake of it this is the best racer ive played just toping tdr 3 and if they sort the online out it could be the best game ive played.
ive been following a thread on avforums for ages and they started the same as me but the ones who have stuck with it are all giving it glowing reviews .
as i said in the main post a reason to buy a ps3 oh yes if your going to play it in single player.

Funniy enough it was one of the only driving games I got in to. It was incredibly difficult (for me) when you started turning off all the assists but very rewarding when you started to get the hang of it.

yes bud 355 challenge great game i paid a fortune for that when it came out had it on jap import .

i have the same prob kev but its bloody murder crime channel she reckons she can kill me dispose of the body clean up and make it look like another day and they say games pollute the mind .

At work they just had new Samsumg tv range in with 1080p now

and the blueray demo on it looks awesome!

All in good time Nick - our George Forman Grill is on it's way out and soon it's time to replace the TV and DVD player in the living room - could be an opportune time to get a PS3.

Problem is if I do get one it'll be living downstairs - then I have to compete with the better half for the TV - it works okay now as while she's watching those two men of questionable sexual tastes doing the interior design thing I am in the loft slitting people's throats on Assassin's Creed or lobbing someone in Top Spin 2.

In short, no room at the inn for another console but we're rather keen on the BluRay.
