World of Clans Arena Now Open

''World of Clans has always been invovled with it's community, and now we are proud to announce the new ladder systems for xbox live, namely, the WoC:Arena.

These new ladders mark a new stage in our community websites growth, and success, and we are wanting to continue the same way we started out, with active community clans.

These ladders are not active yet, but you may take this time to get your clan signed up, and get a feel for the system. All the challenges will be enabled 24 hours prior to the system going live on the 30th. These new ladders are a compete overhaul of the old ladders and as such have many added features as well as being more user friendly, we now hold detailed stats for every single registered player, and clan.''

The WoC Arena features many ladders for games including Halo 3, Rainbowsix:Vegas 2, Call of Duty 4, Team Fortress 2 and Gears of War. Alongside the ladders are tournaments involving the community.

All the Ladders and Tournaments are run by the community, for the community and hope to let the gaming community have their say on the latest ladders and tournaments.

World of Clans has shown glowing potential since the very beginning of it's launch last year and aims to become a community-run ladder, and also one which the community can play freely on and enjoy to the fullest extent. Always being commended for it's attention to the community's wants and opinions, WoC is excitedly waiting on the full launch of these ladders on the 30th!

With Ladder Staff online if any disputes or problems should arise, clear set rules and helpful and friendly Staff-you should be over there right now!

Tartan Terror Worms Championship

Could anyone posting news please note the following as this will help keep the main page formatted correctly. In some cases not following these tips may end up breaking the main page, so please be careful.

If your news item is only one line or paragraph, please press enter a couple of times at the end of the last sentence.

Please don't post links or pictures as the first thing in a news item.

If more than one paragraph shows in the news item on the main page, editing the news item and removing the spacing between the first and second paragraph then adding it again with the enter button can resolve this. This may or may not be a problem depending on the size of paragrahps.

Quite a lot of issues can be resolved by removing formatting tags by clicking on the HTML button when editing a post, removing the tags (enclosed in < >, such as <DIV>, <BR> etc) then going back to Design view and spacing text with the enter button.

Please always check how the main page looks after adding news in case of any problems and please also check your spelling.

Sorry if this sounds a bit complicated, we will be trying to tweak things to try and catch any situations where it breaks the main page.

Linking to external sites if it's relevant to the topic is fine. If you wish to advertise a site (including clan sites) then please do so in the Test Postings and Pimping forum only. Posts purely for pimping outside of this forum will be removed.

CAPS

Please do not make an entire post or topic title all in CAPITALS. If anything it makes a post harder to read and will put people off reading it, having the exact opposite affect of what you want. If people are interested in the subject they will read your post.

Images

The use of image tags in posts are permitted as long as external files linked must not be extrenuously large either/or in file size or dimensions, if found to be then they need to be linked to using the URL tag rather than displayed in the post.

Please do not link to images on other sites unless it's your own site or you have permission to do so.

Modding/Piracy/Warez

It is expressly forbidden to mention or discuss about the modding of an Xbox or the downloading of Xbox games, or for any other console or PC. Any posts found of this nature will be removed without warning or editing and could result in your posting privelages removed by discretion of the Admin.

As such any forum member that advocates the theft of IP, or provides access through any means to warez, will be banned. You can consider warez to be anything related to the downloading of cracks and serial numbers or the downloading/sharing of software not licensed in accordance publisher’s wishes. Take note that file sharing of bootleg music or pirated software through peer to peer programs like Kazaa is a form of warezing.

Theft of IP is a broader term and would include, but is not limited to, the use of someone else's work, in part or in whole, and presenting it as your own. If you do use small part of someone's work product in a post ensure that it is properly referenced (link if available) and credit given.

News

The Xbox News forum is for news that will appear on the main site and therefore must be relevant and news, not general chat, banter or unrelated discussion.

Please can you also take extra care with spelling when posting new topics in these forums.

Quoting

Please use quotes sparingly to clarify a post that you are replying to, if it may be earlier in the thread and not clear that you're referring to it. It really isn't necessary to quote the post immediately prior to yours.

As a general rule:

Do not use the quote feature to bully, harass, or pummel other people's arugements.

Do not use the quote feature as a way of posting while adding nothing of substance to a thread (do not, for example, quote someone else's post and then add "I agree")

Do not quote the entierty of another post, especially when it is on the same page of the thread as your response. This is both unecessary and disruptive.

Do not overuse the quote feature - if quotes take up more room in your post than what you are adding to the thread, rethink your post.

Do remember that the " character can also be used to denote quotations, so please use it.

Do use the quote feature to quote developers or content from another site (add a link too)

As a rule of thumb keep quotes to around 2 per post. Anymore than 2 and you are running the risk of picking apart anothers post.

Signatures

480 x 125 - 30 kbs or 6 lines. This is a guide as long as they are not excessive then they are fine. If you feel they are a tad large then please send me a link as I will need to edit these, if required.

Spam

People posting one word answers/smilies repeatedly without anyone else posting is what is considered spam and will be removed.

The only place where this is acceptable is the test forum even though this isnt something we want to advertise.. but if this will keep it from everywhere else then fine.

Swearing

Swearing in general banter is fine, excessive swearing or using it to abuse others isn't and will be removed. Please do not use characters to avoid the forum censor.

General Guidelines

1. Please act on any requests made by an Admin or Mod, such as changing your forum sig.

2. No bumping old threads with inane replies like "lol" or "i agree". Only add to an old thread if your comments are relevant and would be seen as a viable addition to a thread. Continuing on a conversation dropped months ago is not a viable reason.

3. The hard and fast rule of thumb for acceptable amounts of flesh being posted, are that no nipples or genitalia are to be exposed, and no pictures that suggest or imply sexual readiness / provocative poses are allowed. This is dealt by on a case by case basis though. So if your worried about a post not meeting the guidelines post about it in Forum Issues or Private Message an admin for a clarrification.

4. Do not drag threads off topic. Threads may be locked if you drag them offtopic. You may be banned from the thread, and have your posts deleted. The moderators are not here to clean up threads though so do not expect offtopic posts to just be deleted, and the thread left open. You are responsible for your posts, so if you get thread locked due to offtopic posts, it is your fault and no one elses. Offtopic posts that derail a thread ( provide fodder for others to post offtopic ), will most likely be locked straight away.

5. Do not post a thread and have the only content of the first post a link to a website with no qualifying text. Members need to know where they are going, and a either a brief summary by the thread starter or commentary, is required.

6. All posts are to be made in English. If you post something in a different language then a translation is required. Most of the staff only read english text so therefore we cannot moderate posts that are not written in English.

7. Do not post the same thread in more than one forum - choose the most appropriate forum for your topic and post it once only. In addition, creating a thread in one forum for the sole purpose of advertising a thread in another forum is not permitted.

8. Read the guidelines again.

Back in around October, 2002, a few members of the Blueyonder gaming community set up the #byxbox IRC channel in preparation for the beta testing of Microsoft's Xbox Live service. The Blueyonder Xbox forums had been becoming increasingly active after a very sceptical reception to the Xbox. A few of us stubborn forum users continued to battle against the tidal wave of doubters and our tenacity was rewarded when the forums became the most active of the console forums on the Blueyonder Games website.

When the beta testers got their kits, and we all registered Gamertags, the #byxbox irc channel became our meeting place to arrange gaming sessions on the few games that were around at the time - the main ones being MotoGP Online Demo and Mech Assault.

It soon became difficult to know who was who, with some people not being able to get their Blueyonder forum names as Gamertags. So, in November 2002, Scouseknight launched the first phase of the community website, which was a simple Gamertag cross-reference database to allow people to record both their Blueyonder names and Gamertags.

More and more features were added to this Gamertag facility and by December 2002, byxbox.com was born, and shortly afterwards, a large fully-featured website was launched with the ability to post news, add games reviews e.t.c.

byxbox.com remained largely unchanged for a long period of time, and it became clear that it needed a new lease of life, which prompted the start of the second incarnation of the site.

Chas submitted a design that was eventually used along with some graphics from Matty P. Some new features were added and a few other tweaks took place, but the new design was basically grafted onto the original coding done by Scouseknight.

About the same time there were murmurs about Blueyonder closing down, but until we had official confirmation there was little we could do, so the site was relaunched under the byxbox name. Unfortunately it was only a matter of weeks later that the news broke confirming the closure of the Blueyonder gaming service and we had a few short weeks to decide what to do.

A number of discussions took place on the forums weighing up the options which were discussed by the community. It came down between two options - Going it alone - potentially hazardous as there are plenty of other Xbox sites out there, would we be able to survive? Or attaching ourselves to another GSP, Wireplay being the one of choice. Again could be a bit risky in the current climate with GPSs falling by the wayside, would we end up homeless again?

The result of the final vote should be quite apparent and after yet more discussion on a new name, myxbox was born in October 2003. The only major difference from the revamped byxbox site and myxbox, apart from the name change and some more new graphics, (this time from Benten) was the addition of the forums. Although, subsequently Chas added a few more features and the tournaments section was rewritten from scratch.

Then in April 2005, with the forthcoming launch of the Xbox 360 discussions took place on what direction to take the site, which ended up with the somewhat contraversial idea of dumping the main site altogether and just using the forums. The idea was to get back to basics, the old site was very underused, the community and its members were always the main focus since it's inception and as such were centred around the forums, so the main site got forgotten a bit and a lot of its features hardly got used. There wasn't anything on the main site that couldn't be done through the forums and however contraversial the decision, it made a lot of sense, so the site went.

Finally at the end of November 2005 after a few delays, the new straml;ined site, ie: the new forums, were launched. That brings us up to the present day. Who knows what the future will hold.

We'd like to end by saying a big thank you to everyone that has droppoed in on our small corner of the world wide web, and Live community, whether you've stuck around since the byxbox days or only just arrived.

Anyhow, I work for a new ISP. (I can hear you yawning already.. but stick around, you realy need to know this!) It was set up by a bunch of gamers because we wanted the very best xbox live connection we could get,..without having to sell a kidney!

Have a look at my sig, then do some research yourself. You will not find a better connection for the price anywhere in the UK. We rule when it comes to xbox gaming. Read our FAQ if you want to kow why.

And before anybody starts flaming, may I suggest you ask someone who actually knows about ADSL to comment? I think you will find they agree with us

Hey guys, I'm Zyber Jedi from Matchbox360 and I wanted to tell you about our latest endeavour. I couldn't find a better forum so I thought I'd stick it in here

Ignition is our new online, downloadable magazine. Every month we will bring you updated news, previews and reviews on the Xbox and Xbox360. As well as this, we are bringing the Xbox community into the magazine with, events from different sites being advertised and written up, community gamer profiles, competitions and tonnes of other things.

The Magazine is written by a number of games journalists and designed to look like an actual magazine. The idea is that you can view the magazine on screen or print it off to read when you have some spare time. It's in PDF file format and can be downloaded from this site www.ignition360.co.uk.

I know many of you will say "well what’s the point? I can find all that information on the internet" yes you can. However, this magazine not only looks like a professional mag, but it reads like one too with a high calibre of writing.

We just released our first issue on the 1st of June and we have had a lot of positive feedback on it. There are a few things which will change in issue 2 but it’s looking good.
