I know you can stream divx / xvid to a 360 now and that it has to be online to play it. Its just that no one I know can get them streaming from MCE when I search xbox.com for a way to do it I just get tons of messages of other people who cant

you can streem most AVI/DivX/XviD on the 360 now except for the really early encoded stuff and thats very few. only thing that sucks is the fact that your 360 needs to be online because it does not save the codec on your xbox. it downloads it and holds it in the cache.

I'm running Vista 64bit, MCE comes with that, i switch on the xbox, a Media Center box pops up on my PC and asks me if i want to share to this device, simple as making cheese on toast.....

How?

What plugin are you using to do it? Microsoft have always said the standard MCE wouldnt do it and I couldnt figure out how to get it to work

When you turn the 360 on while the PC is on it shoudl pop up on the PC to say its found an "Extender", you click the bubble and it intalls it for you.

You just then install MP11 and make your music folder a MP11 library and then on your 360 its int he music folder under your PC as a data source.

If you use MCE then you dont need MP11 but then you cant stream Divx via MCE so you have to use MP11.

Weird. My pc is wired to my router but works fine like that. (Firewall settings?)

For me its about 50% of the value of the xbox, being able to watch the videos stored on my pc on my tv. Such great stuff available to download... Hope its going well for you.

lol yeah it was connected, but the problem why i could not find my xbox i think was because my computer wasnt wireless, i did have my wireless router connected but it wouldnt work. But when i bought my laptop i tried to do it through that and it strangely worked, in my opinion it might be because , my laptop was wirelessly connected to the router which was connected to xbox, so when i searched on my laptop it picked it up straight away... but then i had to go through all the hassle of setting it up. Its a nice little feature to have once it all works

stupid question probably, but was your xbox connected and on when you were configuring WMP11? When I was setting mine up the xbox showed up immediately, and I think WMP11 activates file sharing for you when you choose to share media through its interface. Try running the nework test on your xbox frst to see if it can see the pc.

yeah i was VERY confused, i kept going wheres hell is my media sharing software, then when i read up further i noticed it was intergrated into windows media center, i thought this was bit crap, but it does work.
