Whilst i am assurred that being on live is a fabulous experience, young family, time and money means that my priorities are else where.

I am running a pc system using basic vista with a cable broadband internet connection.

I've recently picked up another 360 cheap. So i was thinking about sending my original back to MS to get the drive fixed/replaced.

Whats the process involved to get these things sent back to MS?. And anyone got the phone number .

Sorry if its been posted elsewhere, I havent got time to sive threw 100's of posts looking for the info. And I thought some kindly person would be able to help me .

internet explorer 7 trouble

can anyone help ? please?

operating system: windows xp media edition

problem: internet explorer 7 web browser opens with my home page address at the top but fails to load up the home page - I have a blank white page! In addition to this when I open my favourites folder and click on a link to another site the home page address stays and nothing happens including if I try to go to windows update centre.

I have done several things to try to fix the problem but just cant do it.....

Ive done 3 "restores" at different points upto 4 wk ago when it was working fine but still no joy!

Ive downloaded int exp 7 twice from microsoft and re-installed it twice but still no joy!

Ive tested my connection several times and still no joy.

Im about to throw the dam pc out the f*ing window ! but dont think that'll work either, does anyone know whats wrong ?

I can get on internet using bt yahoo browser which I really dont like using, its ok for a while but I want my ie7 back, lol

any ideas?

Help Needed Please

I need a new psu for a Graphics card upgrade. Nvidia Recommend at least a 500-600w psu for a gf8800GTS OC.

My current PSU is only a 300w. The problem is I havent got a clue which type of PSU is compatible with my motherboard. ATX, ATX.20, ATX 2.2?????

I've spent hours search the net for a manual for my motherboard, which I havent been able to find. But I have found the next model number down from mine, which is exactly the same chipset etc.

Mine is a g33m2 (ms-7358)

And the manual I've found is for a g33m ms-7357.

Windows Media Connect and streaming problems

Up until a day today I had no problems streaming
my media onto the xbox 360 / lcd tv
Now my xbox360 does not recognise ( can't find) my
pc
A message says I don't have windows sharing softare.
I have repaired reinstalled but all to no avail
( by the way xbox live gaming is fine)

Hi all,

took delivery yesterday of a bt home hub to replace my voyager 2091.

set up fine and all connected wirelessyly to laptop and ethernet to 360, went on had some games fine and dandy.

today turned xbox on and wouldn't connect to live and was failing at the ip addressing stage, when i looked at the leasing time in the hub manager it is 24 hours so not sure why it failed to renew. a reboot of the hub worked fine and all back up but i don't want to have to reboot everyday so does anyone have an idea of how to resolve this?

My router has a document problem with opening one of the Live ports - I have my 360 in the DMZ which should render this a moot problem.

I own a basic Netgear el-cheapo which does the job I guess but I'd rather be able to make my NAT Open without using the DMZ.

My brother is running a Netgear of vastly superior speed but isn't on "the list" - I'd like to go wireless as much as possible so which is the definitive router for me to upgrade to?

right just got new lcd tv for crimbo and ive gone for a vga lead as pic quailty for me is much better ,the surround system ive got i have noticed that the centre speaker is like muted someof the time but not all.so i need to connect the red+white audio from the vga lead which i have into the tv but no sound , but when i use normal leads i can but pic is crap wot am i doing wrong or wot can i buy to solve the problem cos i need to use the tv as a centre speaker really , in yours hands cheers guys !!!

After the New Xbox update dying to preview some films before i download so started to preview 300 but after the buffering i got sound but no picture just all wavy pink and green lines like old commodore 64 loading screen lol . anyways i though probably the update ill wait for a fix so i had look at some game trailers (as u cud tell tad bored) lol so looking at game trailers witch normally work but it did it the same :S were normally it works. i don't know this update problem needs fixing or summat no right with my xbox

In a skinflint bid to avoid paying the TV license and a skinflint way to play HD xbox I have given all my TV's away. I was planning on buying a vdidgi-z3 box so I could run my xbox thru my old skool pcmonitor but they only seem to make one a year (or the enslaved old woman they force to make them in hongkong has escaped/died) and I'm getting xbox cold turkey! Can anyone advise me on a good monitor to buy ( bearing in mind I'm poor enough to give my tellies way to save £130) that would work using a vga cable? Also on the TV liecence front according to the small print even if you have a phone that is capable of recieving live tv they can charge you the fee !!!! I'm b*ggerd if the BBC think they can charge me for accsesing the internet and I'm planning on fighting it so if any budding laywers out there have any advice or any rich people want to contribute to a fighting fund (I promise I wont spend it on a tv licencese and a 48" HD tv:w00t )any help would be much appreciated!

When I first got on Live I paid for it on dads credit card, and its due for renewal in one months time.
I wanted to get shot of that and get to prepay cards from now. I thought I got two months free when i got my xbox replaced after red lights, so put one on now and the credit card wont renew, use these two months free and it will set to silver after, CC wont be charged.

Used one of the cards, checked my email. Said ive confirmed renewal for me 12 months subscription, the renewal date is now 10th November...So rather than cancel renewal, it just moves it on...

Now have to call customer support tomorrow morning to tell them to not renew on the credit card at all....bloody nuisance!

Hi, ive recently got back into oblivion after lending it to a friend for 4 months, although its start to get on my tits cos im sick of being a vampire.......ive done the quests to get rid of it up to where you need to ge 5 empty grand soul gems though i cant for the life of me remember where to get them from.....can anyone help???? also i have soul gems that are full? is there a way to empty them???....i should know this by know really as i am level 26 with 70+ game time but ive had such a long break from it that i seem to have forgotton everything

Hi, thinking about getting a new pc in order to run all the up and coming games in all there glory, such as age of conan and crysis, looking at the prices they are very expensive for a top of the range ones, just wondering whether it would be worth it/easy enough to upgrade my current one (in stages) instead......
P4 3Ghz
Geforce 6200 (512mb mem)
1gb ddr ram
160gb hdd (not to bothered about hd space as i have a 320gb ext drive)
runs win xp

im not a pc expert and dont wont to waste too much money, also whats the best oder to upgrade the components....ie do i get ram first , then gfx card then proccessor etc
any advice from any pc experts would be gratefull before i spend my hard earned cash

Right, I'm house-sitting at a friends place, luckly there is a 360 but it isn't networked so no Live for me.

There is a router here, with 4 network ports that has a Mac Airport plugged into it.

When I plug my laptop into the router directly it connects fine and I can go on the interspaz. I've tried plugging the Xbox into the router and it says it is having trouble negotiating a lease with the DHCP server.

Anyone got any advice? I've tried manually setting up the IP address and all that malarky with the right gateway but that doesn't work either. I suspect it could be a problem with the router but I don't know the password to get into the settings and surely if it was a problem the laptop wouldn't be able to negotiate a lease either?

Hi all,

Normally I use Xbox.com to sign in using the pc to see what people in my friends list are playing. And also to see if theres anything new on there. But for the last couple of weeks. Everytime I try and open the web page. Im greeted with the passport login screen instead of the xbox.com main page. If i try and enter my password into the login box and press sign in. the login screen duplicates about 50 times one on top of another.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?. Do you think it could be some kind of virus?. Im getting worried at the moment that it could be some kind of malicous virus. Which is making me extremely warey of loging into anything, just incase someone could be getting hold of my details . Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I know there are products I can get to do it - but this is a one-off and I don't want to have to spend cash on a product I will only use the once.

The trial versions of what I've found only do partial conversions of the file - anyone happen to know a free convertor or a trial version that works on number of files converted rather than letting you do unlimited partial conversions?

Yeah, my NAT was strict last night, for reasons unknown, so Ive just gone through the rigma role of arguing with my dad over whats happened so I can unplug the bloody router to sort it out.

After him looking at the advanced settings in the hub, which despite me having a 2.1 BSC honors degree, which included doing network admin and engineering, I am forbidden to go into....has decided that theres nothing to do with NAT settings in the hub and that if its not the hub, its not my 360, it must be BT

Then when my mum asked what all the noise was about my dad says something along the lines of "oh he cant hear people talking in his ear when he plays games, so wants to reset the line speed and all our usage data".....wasnt the case when he used to unplug the fucking thing nightly.

ANYWAY, is there a permenant fix for the homehub to stop my 360 getting a strict setting? Or is it just going to be a case of go through the same bloody argument to actually get my moneys worth from live?
Ive seen a solution online, but that would make me go into the forbidden advanced settings

Not played with media center really but since I have installed Vista I thought I would change the background on my 360 blades as I haven't done so since using windows media connect, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it so any help would be much appreciated. I'm not even gonna try the music side of it again all my tunes are listed but trying to get one to play in a game is as clear as mud to me lol.

hard disc drive

hi my windows xp computer went bang so i was told that i could take out my hard drive and put it in another tower so i have a old windows 98 tower i took out the 98 hard drive and put the xp hard drive in but nothing happened (why?)

then i put the 98 disc drive back in with the xp drive and put the 98 disc drive to master and the xp disc drive to slave now it boots up in windows 98 but i cant find the other hard drive please help!

It needs to be HD, big, flat and good for Xbox360!

Was playing this last night and was having some really good games then as soon as a few more people joined the game it started with the constant firing noise which a few said they could hear but then the game just froze up and i could not do anything so i restarted the xbox up and joined again so i had to wait for 5 mins till next game started and then a couple of mins into it it froze again but it was late and i called it a night.

This has happened a couple of times befor when playing rainbow 6 on live and just wondered it anyone else had had this problem as it never happens on any other game and never happens when im playing single player rainbow 6 so im hoping its something in the game and not my machine.

Anyway if you have had the same problem just let me know and it will put my mind at rest that it is not just me.

Ello all,

My Live subscription wont renew until 10/10, but I dont want it to on the current payment method.
Its my dads credit card and would much rather it come out of my bank account....less hasstle all round.

It says in the help part of the totally useless billing and payment section that you can select Direct Debit....only its not listed there

It could just be that im at work and its being iffy, but unlikely.

Does anyone know if its still possible to set up DD? Or does anyone have the customer service number/billing info number, so i can stop the renewal and then buy a prepay scratch card when it runs out.

I recently just brought myself a New TV (Bush LCD26TV022HD) basically a 26inch HD Ready LCD TV chuffed to bits that as HD ready thinking finally get to play my Xbox at better size and picture got set on 1080p etc anyways i playing Dead Rising to start off with ( yay finally can see the text at the bottom ) anyways if u enter a room that slighty dark the picture looks like am in dark room or summat. i tried on other games like Rainbow 6 etc basically have to use the night vision on the Dam (science labs) just to see properly , does anyone else have this problem or any means of sloving it or is it just one of those things cheers in advance.

Whilst I work in IT have very little experience of graphics cards and had quick question. Just got my old man a new pc (Dell) and stuck in a basic graphics card - an nVidia 7300LE turbocache. Now, I'm under no illusion that it will be a cutting edge gaming pc doing 8 x anti-aliasing at 1600 x 1200 at 100fps, but quite suprised at the lack of improvement over his much older pc - an Athlon 1.6Ghz, 512 Ram, ati all-in-wonder 9800(not the fast Pro version) vs the new one - Intel 1.83Ghz Dual Core, 1Gb Ram DDR2, 7300LE. Basically, running 3D Mark 03 get 3800 for old pc and just under 4000 for new one. All latest drivers installed and settings tweaked. I am sure everything is working as it should, just suprised that even with the basic graphics card due to the other specs of the machine not getting a bit more of a boost over the other 3 year old pc. Graphics card does have 128Mb dedicated on board memory. Again, not much but still would have expected a little bit more. Any ideas people, or is the graphics card just catastrophically pants!

Hi all,

Since I had the original Xbox I've connected the same way to Live. By sharing my internet connection using a PCI card and a crossover cable. This works well, the only downfall is that I have to have the pc on all the time when playing on the xbox. Which I dont really want to have to do anymore.

So Basically some advise would be appreciated on proven routers, that you have possibly used/own yourselves. I'm most likely looking for a wired router system, because of known lag issues with wireless, and of course wireless = more expensive. Im also lookin for a user friendly setup, which shouldnt cause me any problems when hosting or connecting to others games.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Just wondered if anyone has had this problem, tried it for first time yesterday and when i push forwards he only walks - if i move it slightly to the left or right it runs, don't think theres a problem with my controller as it works fine with other games.
Is there an option for this or something?

Hi can anyone help? Over the last couple of nights around 01:30ish live has knocked me off and not let me sign in again for about 2-3hours, have been on line for about 4-5hours during the day!!

First time was on COD2, and the same again last night.Is there a time limit on live, like a fair sharing thing?? 'Cos this thing is starting to p*$£%^ me off,or am just going bloody mad ( no comments from the backrow!! ) Hope you can help us, thanks sighthound

Rainbow 6 Vegas Crashes

Hey all
basically the problem is i play R6 (which is amazing game love it to bits) but sumtimes on single player it will just freeze up and nothing happens and i havew to restart my xbox which i userally think meh things happen but started to get anooyin cuz it crashes more on live than on single player heres main example i get:

* playing on Ranked Team Sharpshooter first round i won (woop) then we desided to change map when the map loaded up give ya the teams etc i crashes before it shows the teams and map etc , so restarted rejoin my friends on the map which works a dream and we start the round (cant think the name of the map) but i spawn i walk to window and went to rapple it didnt rapple and just fell down to the ground and just crashed there nothing happend so i swore few times switched it off felt my xbox incase it was a heating fault or anythin the case was warm so waited a bit (went for a wee N grab some food) tried again and after that worked perfectly no problems at all.

So i dont know if just me or anyone else get the same problem or it my xbox over heating or anything just puzzling be because only seem to recently do it on Rainbow 6

At the minute im using my monitor to output my sound for the 360, and a cheap speaker set for my pc (i use got the 1 monitor for pc & 360), the sound is pretty crap doing it this way and was wondering if anyone else uses a 5.1 sound system(cheapish) that could accomodate both pc and 360, i never know what coneections/adaptors/cables etc i would need, my games room is only quite small so it doesnt need to be 'too' good, just not as 'tinny' as it is now. Thanks

xbox live via ntl set top box?

hey guys,
i got a xbox 360 for xmas and i have been trying to set up xbox live in my front room,however i am a little unsure if it is possible to do it using an ntl set top box. I used the only ethernet cable on the back of the set top box( i guess its the one that goes all around the house into back of my pc) to connect to the xbox...

however when running the connection tests(after passing connect/ip address tests) it fails on MTU(maximum transfer unit). It says that the router/gateway may have either the wrong settings or may not be configured to allow as much MTU as needed.

basically i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to do?
