anyway, ive got another copy from work, so I think the other copy will be traded in at the weekend, along with a load of other games *cough*

EDIT:
Well, i got my copy home from work, banged it in and did the mission that made the game unreadable...perfectly fine, loaded straight up, nothing wrong (so far).

Put the old copy in and it read it as a DVD - so it wasnt so much that theres a certain point in the game for me, just that the disc is buggered.
Will be ringing play up tomorrow to see what, if anything can be done.

My disc is now being recognised as a DVD a lot, try to play it and it says put it in a 360...also ive tried the same mission twice now and just as im getting to the end of I get the unreadable disc error

Will give it a third try, after that I think ill be ringing MS or Rockstar or something.

Emailed Rockstar support after having the disc read error almost midway through the initial loading (the three pictures Nikko hiding behind create, slag with lollipop, bird bending over the car) - however, there were some other pictures in the loop Ive never seen before, so every cloud eh ( )

The unreadable disc error also happens each time I try to complete the first mission for Phil Bell on the third Island...ive tried twice and both times when im near to completing it I get the unreadable disc error.

Are there any fixes I can try to stop this from happening or is the disc bugged or something?

I got unreadable disc and said to clean it on GTA a few times now , it first started with R6V 2 (only happened on these 2 games) and they are the last 2 games i have had so i was thinking it might be my xbox playing up but if others are getting it then maybe its the discs.

Also jestor you have not said why the turkey attacked you , is it because you were trying to stuff it

Has anyone eles' disc started being unreadable? Mine generally does at least twice/three times a session and this morning was registering as a DVD - when I went to play it i got the white screen that says put it in a 360!

Only seems to be GTA though

Blimey this is getting a bit out of hand

Back on topic I'm going to get my money's worth out of this without going online with it - still irked about the driving (particularly when racing is now one of the sub-plots in the story) but the story is absorbing so going to try and get to the end.

I accidentely jacked the helicopter instead of getting in for a sight-seeing tour which was fun - flew over to the Statue of Liberty and landed on the roof of a building there - and subequently needed to get back to the city within an hour but had fallen off the building by then and couldn't get to the helicopter.

At the stage for me where I am trying things out and not really going full throttle with the game missions themselves - it's got a long shelf-life as a result.

I think the comments about the game have been reasonable - sure, people have criticised the driving (myself being one of them) but it's one of the better games available - not sure it deserves 10/10 ratings however.

Yes a lot on here are older gamers but when online you would think sometimes we were all kids myself included.

I know everyone has different veiws on games and comparisons are gonna be made which is fair enough but what i was saying in another post wasn't about the comparisons but the constant moaning which is ok as we all moan now and again , but it does start to get on your nerves after a while as it happened in rainbow 6 and halo 3 (guilty for this myself) and now again in GTA so all i was saying was if you do not enjoy it then don't play and get wound up just enjoy the games you do like , then everyones a winner.(suppose it does sound like fuck off but i ment it in the nicest way possible)

Anyway this is just my opinion and if anyone does not like it then maybe you should thow you pc/xbox out of the window and (im sure i have read this somewhere before)

I'm with Chas on this one. I'll never understand why anyone would come on a forum like this one and actually complain when comparisons are being made between games, and the comparisons made by people on this site are generally pretty relevant (unless they're purposefully being stooopid). Personally I came here because people are a bit older, a bit more incisive and there's only fanboyism when its funny. Anyone else should really stick to posting comments after reviews on IGN of games on consoles they don't own.

My disc has started giving me the unreadable disc error, but start it up again without turning off the console and its fine. The disc isnt scratched and its not happened with any other game...so may not be my console.

Anyway, the story is getting very, very good now

apparently there is a glitch on some discs that stops you going any further in the game. it happened to my mate at work and it was mentioned on Radio 5 Live today. Rockstar are contemplating a recall of upto 1 million discs, or failing that a patch to address the problem. this would never happen in say, COD4...HA!
