| Probably not - the Media Centre doesn't support enough files yet to make it worth it for people who don't necessarily have to have the latest of everything

| | Found a little program - videoredo , that converts .ts files quickly to Media Centre format...so that's those sorted. Works really well , and will convert an hor long episode in .ts format to dvr-ms format with no loss of quality in about 1 minute. But Divx/Xvid via transcode 360 still flaky , so im still holding off.

| | Cheers Groove will give that a whirl. With regard to price - depends whether you go for retail or OEM, or which version of Vista you purchase. Better off going to the website for your preferred source of such things - I got mine from www.scan.co.uk - OEM version of Ultimate Edition.

| | dude.....a bit risky going for OEM with vista ?? Admittedly im running OEM XP MCE , and that can be a right pain if you upgrade your pc , having to call microsoft to re-activate it. But rumours are abound that they will be cracking down even harder with Vista OEM.....motherboard change = no more activation.
Im definately going retail this time....dont want to get stuck with a £300 coaster in a year or two's time when i upgrade my pc again.

| | OEM isn't going to cause me any grief I have Vista on a laptop I use for development - the only thing I am likely to change is throwing more RAM at it. The days of fiddling around with PC upgrades are long in the past for me I am pleased to say. The thought of changing a mainboard right now makes me go all clammy
